On 6 March 2024, the Legislative Council passed a resolution requiring the Parliamentary Committee on Occupational Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation to inquire into and report on matters relating to the Country Fire Service (CFS).

Specifically, these matters include:
• assessing support mechanisms available to volunteer firefighters;
• examining the processes, procedures, criteria and timeliness of investigations into volunteer conduct;
• evaluating the communication channels and procedures within the CFS, especially concerning volunteers’ ability to voice their concerns and the organisation’s responsiveness;
• and any other relevant matters related to the functioning, governance, and support structures of the CFS.

The Committee now invites all interested persons and organisations to provide a written submission by Friday 28 June 2024.
